Wang Lee Hom's mind's a blank on the topic of Miss Bai
Taiwanese singer Wang Lee Hom accidentally divulged that he once had a long-distance relationship with a Miss Bai on "Mr Con & Ms Csi", and led to many conjectures. He arrived in Singapore two days ago to promote his new album "Xin Zhong De Ri Yue" and was, as usual, avoidant when it comes to relationship questions.
"With regards to relationship questions, I like to stop at certain details," he says with a smile on his face, obviously reluctant to continue.
"Forever Love"'s a song for Miss Bai
When the reporter asked about Miss Bai, Lee Hom was hesitant and tried to divert the question to something else, refusing to say anything more. The record company personnel became anxious and hurriedly stopped the press conference.
Lee Hom surprised the two hosts of "Mr Con & Ms Csi" when he mentioned about his relationship with Miss Bai. There were previous reports which said that Miss Bai's getting married just as Wang is releasing this new album, therefore the song "Forever Love" is dedicated to her as best wishes for her wedding. It's a pity Wang has his lips clamped with regards to this matter, who this Miss Bai is, shall remain a mystery.
His 15kg bag of recording equipment
However, when the conversation was steered towards his new album, Lee Hom became very excited and shared a lot. He carried a 15kg backpack across about 40 cities in China, just so he can add elements of the minority into his new album. His backpack contains his keyboard, microphones and other such recording equipment, to facilitate recording on the spot.
For this album, Lee Hom suffered when he was in Xinjiang & Tibet, collecting exotic music to record. Although he did not get altitude sickness, he often felt giddy and short of breath every few steps.
When asked if it causes hallucinations, Lee Hom joked," I get hallucinations all the time, nothing to do with altitude sickness."
I gave all my time to my company
Lee Hom can be rather one-minded and stubborn when it comes to music. He actively goes around the world to perform, with the hope that more people can get to know chinese music.
"I hope that composers in Chinese countries and areas can have more confidence and more courage to make music. The chinese culture is very rich and to be able to let chinese music shine and be comparable in the international arena, we need to be different."
Having been int he industry for ten years, Lee Hom says that he gets to know more about himself through his compositions. The only thing he regrets is the lack of time for his family, given the hectic schedule of his work.
